How've you been? Oh, and how's your skin?
I deeply apologize for the little hiatus I took from posting new, informative and incredibly hilarious stories, but I'm back and I've got something really exciting to share with you: Facial Cupping.
"Okay, whoa, back up the soul train, sister. That sounds weird and a little freaky. I just want gorgeous skin. I don't wanna blush and avoid eye contact when I'm talking about skin treatments."
Honey, please. Have I ever lead you astray when it comes to skin care? I always have your back. This treatment isn't weird or freaky, it's not even that new, cupping has been around for yeeeears. It just isn't done very often, and not many peeps have heard of it.
"Okay, well, what is it and can we call it something else like facial marshmellowing?"
Clearly, you are terrified of cups and should seek therapy. When I say "facial cupping" what I'm really referring to is facial massage cupping. Basically using small, flexible cups to perform massage during a skin treatment. The cups are flexible to create suction on the surface of the skin which provides a multitude of benefits:
- Tones and firms skin
- Diminishes the appearance of superficial lines
- Stimulates blood flow
- Improves circulation
- Helps remove dirt and oil from the follicles
- Lightly exfoliates
- Provides temporary pain relief
"That sounds totes awesome! However, I'm still a bit apprehensive because when you mentioned suction I imagined myself covered in hickeys from hairline to decollete."
Bravo for using the word decollete correctly! There's no need to worry about hematomas (the proper term for "hickey" because I'm fancy). The cups are used along with hand manipulation during massage, so they are constantly moving over the surface of the skin. The amount of suction used is controlled by how tightly the cups are squeezed before placed on the skin.
Since you asked, here's a pic of me with one of the cups:
You're just jealous because now my forehead is lightly exfoliated, the blood has been circulated, the fine lines have diminished and I have the most toned forehead in all the land!
"Speaking of therapy, do you have frequent conversations with yourself defending your unicorn qualities?"
That's all for today, darlings! Tune in next time!
