If you're using a foaming gel cleanser you only need to use a dime size amount to cleanse the face. Gel cleansers are best for primarily oily or acne prone skin types and you should always add water to this cleanser before applying it to your face.
Cream based cleansers are best for dry, aging and sensitive skin types. There's no need to add water to this kind of cleanser. Just like the gel cleanser, a dime size amount will do ya.
When it comes to an exfoliant like a scrub a nickel size amount is plenty. You do not need to use a scrub every day. 3 times a week is plenty. Also, if you have sensitized or sensitive skin, a scrub is not for you. I will blog soon about different types of exfoliants, what they do and which is best for your skin type.
A toner should be held 10 inches away from the face and sprayed about 3 times, or until the face is damp. A pea size amount of moisturizer or SPF should be applied while the skin is still moist with toner. The toner and moisturizer work with each other to regulate pH and hydrate the skin.
If you are using a serum on the face a pea size is all you need. However, if you are using a treatment product for the eye area only use a sesame seed amount. Eye treatment products should be applied with the ring fingers because these are the weakest fingers which will exert the least amount of pressure to the delicate skin around the eye area.
Had a request to blog about dealing with acne, so I'll post on this skin type next time!
